B is pretty good but musically a bit Kajagoogoo for my tastes.
That first Suede album is nothing less than a masterpiece, and this is one of the biggest tracks on it. It still shakes my head up in all the right ways.
No contest, sorry

Liked B more than expected to, though I can't find lyrics on line and it's hard to hear so I don't know how well it relates to the theme.
No matter, A wins regardless. Not crazy about the vocals, but Butler does tend to keep things interesting, and this is probably one of my favorite things by them.

A is certainly one of Suede's strongest statements and highlights their twin strengths of Anderson's impassioned vocals with Butler's constantly exciting playing. I've heard the song once too often though so found it difficult to get too immersed in it. B is very different to the lo-fi alienation of Leer's earlier singles, far smoother and mainstream. I enjoyed it though and thought it had a similar feel to those loungey Euro synth tracks like " Captain of the Heart". I thought it had a lot of charm.

A is by far and away Suede's best track, but it's a pretty unimaginative pick for a board that's had hours of unnecessary Suede discussion. And hearing it again isn't as pleasant an experience as I expected.
B is a welcome chance to hear some solo Thomas Leer, because I figured that Robert Rental was probably the pop genius when they were a duo, and this seems to confirm that. This is actually a rehash of a b-side from 1978, which I've also just checked out to see if it's any better. Much muddier sound, with a chunky cheap guitar. So kind of better, because it's not as cheesy sounding. I'm still voting B, just because it's a more interesting pick.

The sound on the video for A is quite lifeless and flat, but of course I know how it's supposed to sound because I've loved it for years. B was interesting one - the relaxed rhythms were nice but it's quite long and the 80s-ness of the production starts to grate.

Here's a rarity, a tie when I'm not only familiar, but actually own (on second looks, the copy of International that I have is the one on the B-side of Leer's first single). Never thought either had any more than the vaguest connection to drugs, but that's probably just me. Suede haven't aged well in my mind. Anderson was always a bit of a posey skinny pallid dope type, while Butler did so much better with David McAlmont that it rather spoilt me for his stuff with this band. Seeing this video, couldn't help thinking that there was a whole lotta flailing going on, to no great purpose. Plus Butler was looking unnervingly like Bobby Gillespie, and that can't be good.
The Leer is well different to the one I remember, but not particularly the worse for that. In fact, it's precisely the sort of minimal synthpop that I like (YMG, that sort of thing], and it wins easily here.

I did like B more than expected, although around the 4 minute mark I was wondering what else was in stock for three additional minutes and the answer was ... erm ... not much. Anyway it was far from beating an old fave that I had not listened in many years and still like.

I'm a bit conflicted about the Suede one. A good song in many respects but the singer had that really grating faux cockney/Anthony Newly(supposedly via Bowie) voice that just ruins a track for me. Plus it's about anal nitrate. Plus the lead singer was praised to high heaven by the NME.
B isn't my cup of tea but I found myself come to really quite enjoy it.

A has a cracking tune and charisma, B has neither.
