A few of you, particularly a couple of ex-Refuge members, may know the 80s post-punk band named after the place where the Manson Family resided. Their one and only album Thickly Settled from 1987 became a minor cult hit on our forum around a decade ago thanks to its production, the arrangements based around militaristic drumming, and Bob Sterner's voice which sounds a lot like Coil's John Balance. In 2016 they released a compilation which I only found out a couple of days ago. Obscure and underground 1980's Detroit post-punk outfit SPAHN RANCH announce the official collection "Back to the Wood" comprising tracks from their long out of print 1987 LP "Thickly Settled", along with rare cassette tracks and never before heard studio outtakes. It's available to listen to on Spotify for free (with ads if you haven't paid for premium) and I highly recommend it.

Woah, cheers for bringing that up, I was completely unaware of it. £22 for the vinyl on amazon, I am tempted...

Thanks for the heads-up! I gave up looking for anything by them years ago and had no clue about this compilation either. Listening right now...

If I recall there was another band called Spahn Ranch who were industrial. I used to get the bands mixed up. This one was from Detroit and the other band was from LA.

I caved and ordered the vinyl from amazon marketplace. The official amazon purchase would've took more than a month to arrive, which smacks too much of uncertainty.
