Didn't/doesn't Carla have a good voice? Nice simple song, good strong lyrics.
Vocals not featured so much - in that there's no lead vocal it's just chanting chorus. Overall, the song is also a little more dated than the first. Good though.

A was sweet but kind of washed over me.
B was a blast.

B is pleasant enough but very rudimentary. Gets in and out quickly which is nice, but too slight ultimately.
A isn't isn't up to that much more in the song department, but at least you have Carla taking ownership of it. She really makes it into more than it is on the surface.
The above won't play for me, btw, so I found this:

A sounds to me like Stax going for a Motown type sound. Carla Thomas was a fantastic vocalist and she gets the maximum out of this giving it a really sensual feel. However I find the song very ordinary and the arrangement could be more dynamic. For me B is far more exciting. A really unrelenting, propulsive ball of energy.

I like A, so it's a shame to not vote for it, but B is just a bit fresher for me.

Great performance from Rufus's little girl, although I think it would have been better without that Stax/Volt sound to the backing. They really weren't much cop at this.
Generic R&B stomper, OK while it's going on, but nothing to make it stand out like the vocals in A

In all honesty I should abstain here*, because both songs were on the list I sent to Ray for this Cup. But someone picked one of them and I had to replace it. Obviously this means that I love both songs. I subscribe all the praises stated above and none of the complains.
*but of course I won't, and Ray knows where does my vote go

This is very hard indeed!
I think both tracks are fantastic in their own right. I'll give my vote to whichever needs it in order to end up with a draw.
