Yesterday, and I'm sure part of today, I am part of creating a COVID-19 response for the company I work for. Writing copy and giving ideas for a web page, social media, ie Linkedin, and shareholder info.
My boss wanted me to write "positive" copy, which I have, but I am getting sick of this contrived or manufactured positivity I'm seeing in commercials. And I'm part of it.

I just gave myself a Lysol colonic and I feel great.
It is a little tough to sit down at the moment, but I'm assuming that will go away.

Just yesterday I was reading an article about how Lysol used to be marketed to women as a feminine hygiene product... and (with a little reading between the lines) as a form of birth control. Such ad campaigns continued long after women started dying from it. How far we've come!

Just got back from a doctor's appointment, where I learned that my primary care physician, Dr. Steven Perez, died this past Thursday from Covid. He was in the hospital for two weeks before his body finally gave out.
Everybody in his office is palpably grief-stricken, and I'm a bit shook up too. He was truly loved.

The health care workers are paying the ultimate prize. A woman I used to go out with is an ER nurse. I check in with her occasionally, as we're still friendly, and she says the last two months have been surreal. On the flip side, yesterday ESPN did a nice little feature on front line health care workers and their sports heroes. Here's one:

You build up a bond with healthcare providers who do a good job of looking after you, don't you. Out of idle curiosity, I looked him up. He was an assistant physician to Reagan and Bush!

Out of idle curiosity, I looked him up. He was an assistant physician to Reagan and Bush! This is true. I asked him about it once and he kind of downplayed it as a "was just kind of in the right place at the right time" sort of thing. He did have pictures of himself with them on his wall, though!
