I've only just started listening to this. It's fucking bonkers...but in a good way!
Any fans?

Yes, very much so.
It's strange, because I played the fuck out of it about 15 years ago, told everyone I knew to hear it, absolutely immersed myself in the thing, would have made my all-time top 10 albums, etc. etc. - and then I sort of forgot about it.
But it's absolutely a great album, one of the best examples of original UK psych, close in mood and quality to SF Sorrow but nowhere near as celebrated. Not sure why. Maybe it's a little too whimsical in places, borderline silly even, and Chapman's BAAAAAA voice is a deal-breaker for some. But it's consistent all the way to the end, with enough variety to keep you interested. A real charmer.
They carried on for quite a while, making quirky proggy albums throughout the 70s that had their fans, but they never did anything else again like this. The change between album 1 and album 2 is similar in many ways to what happened to Pink Floyd from Piper to Saucerful.

I've never been able to get into them. It's all a bit precious. I haven't tried with them in years though.

I'm sorry to say I'm kind of with G on this one. I probably like it more than he does, but so far at least its an album I admire (and I do admire it) more than love. I recently downloaded the rare mono version from this blog, which has a ton of great stuff, most of it available in hi-res as well as CD quality. If anyone's interested.

I don't like what you posted, but I'll try some different tracks at some point.
