If he weren't a Beatle there probably wouldn't be any attention paid. It's well within the comfort zone of most of what is posted here, maybe post Ono's "Why", Ringo is on it.

I voted "Good deep cut" but I've always kind of loved it. Its presence would have improved any of his albums (bar the first two, perhaps).
Co-produced by Ringo and Klaus Voorman. Offhand I'm not aware of either of them producing anything else!

I like the guy’s voice. I think It’s better than a lot of what he did but I realize that’s not saying much.

I liked it. Not what I was expecting and I dug the little drone touches especially.

Has anybody put a comp together for the best solo beatles songs from that period?

I went with good deep cut, it's a bit silly but just the right amount. It has some interesting sounds and doesn't outstay its welcome.

There's no way I'm playing that! You're missing out, Fishy. It sounds like the lost lovechild of Silver Apples and Wild Man Fischer!

Has anybody put a comp together for the best solo beatles songs from that period? When I was using Kazaa a lot back in the good old days, I put together a couple CDs of exactly that.

This is one of those things you come across that surprises you. The song really gets into your head after a few listens ( it's a similar melody to Gimme All Your Lovin). Best of all is its arrangement with those eccentric percussion sounds and off-kilter folky backing..it's like something off the 3 EPS by The Beta Band!
