Too many people I know have to use these ant-snoring machines for lack of better description. I was listening to this interview at lunch and it seems the shape of people's skulls have radically changed in the last 400 years, mainly due to processed foods. We don't need to chew as much. That and when our brains radically expanded, but that was a million years ago. Anyway, this journalist, James Nestor, has written a book on it: Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art, where he writes about the simple act of breathing. I don't meditate or pray, but lots of it focuses on breathing. I thought it was interesting: www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/05/27/862963172/how-the-lost-art-of-breathing-can-impact-sleep-and-resilience

Haven't listened to your link yet, but it's interesting timing: I have severe sleep apnea and need one of those machines (CPAP machines) to sleep properly. Late last week my CPAP, which I'd had for 12 years, abruptly stopped working. I'll be getting a new one, but I'm not sure exactly when (it requires a prescription, which requires a sleep study, which I haven't had yet... and I'm not sure how long the machine will take to get here once it's ordered). In the meantime I'm sleeping in a recliner chair with the back most of the way up (makes a HUGE difference, breathing-wise); I'm basically grabbing brief snatches (less than two hours) of REM sleep whenever I can. I'm having some interesting dreams, but otherwise it ain't much fun.

sorry to hear about that. is the CPAP machine like one of those "So Clean" machines that William Shatner pimps on TV?

hey, I forgot about the internet! yeah, "so clean" is for cleaning CPAP machines. but, I got to enjoy this inspirational "we're all in this together" gram from Ol' Unca Bill so it was worthwhile.

Gee, it was sure nice of the folks at "So Clean" to enable Bill to get his message out to us.

It's a fascinating interview. it's not new information, but it's lost information, now with proof behind it. he goes into how to teach one's self to better breath via their nose rather than using your mouth, and how it impacts one's sleep. possibly life changing stuff. (also and interesting aside how athletics can increase their abilities: e.g deep water divers who can stay under 12.5 minutes, etc.,)
