Pitting "Funk #49" against "Walk Away". Vote and write things about it!

"Walk Away" has always walked this cage match for me, but...love it all, really. That opening riff has so much mojo (as I suppose they both do), and the ascending/descending chord riff that follows the chorus is deeply satisfying.
Those three albums are full of fantastic music. Great band, great chemistry, great sound.

I went with "Walk Away" as well, but it was a pretty arbitrary choice - they're both great.

I may have mentioned this a few times, but I've probably done a version of "Funk #49" in every rock band I've ever been in.
That might be the tie-breaker. Both fun to hear, but one's fun to play too.

Funk #49 by virtue of the weird little interlude and the ballsy guitar lick before the riff kicks back in. Simply de-voon.

I went with "Walk Away" as well, but it was a pretty arbitrary choice - they're both great. Yeah, I can't decide. The opening to Funk #49 is great, but the other is a better all-around song. It's like trying to decide between Takin' Care of Business and You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet.

I can chalk up my existence to "Funk #49" so I'm going with that. My dad (who I don't think is Joe Walsh) got James Gang Rides Again based on the strength of that single, and when the band came to North Carolina State University he asked my mom to it as their first date.
She said yes, not because she was enamored with my dad, but because it was the height of Vietnam and this ROTC guy kept trying to ask her to the same concert. The last thing she wanted to do was go out with a military haircut, uniform wearing ROTC guy so the choice was for the John Bonham lookalike.
Dad said Joe Walsh was trashed beyond belief, played 20 minutes and left the stage.

I have a friend who saw them around the same time, and while I think he got a full set, he says that Joe was the only human he ever saw with green skin. Hepatitis, maybe? (It's also quite possible that my friend was tripping.)
