When you hear bands that say they are based around this, do you give it a listen or kinda roll your eyes. There's a few bands in Ireland that mix Irish trad music with African music, or Portuguese trad music and i just find it cringe worthy. There's always a band members that play it with a face on them like what they're doing is groundbreaking. Some are laughing and smiling at each other like "this is brilliant, ain't it", but the crowd is feeling the exact opposite. There's always one white cunt with dreadlocks in these bands too.
I am being snobby and ignorant about this but i just can't help but roll my eyes at it.

Well, if you pushed it, you could say this about the ska revival or white guys playing the blues.
And then there are some ethnic trad/pop fusions, for lack of a better descripiton, like some African and Indian pop music, where folks in those areas are fusing traditional and pop idioms too.

There's always one white cunt with dreadlocks in these bands too. Hey, playing the didgeridoo is a sacred calling.

I got very tired of hearing Afro Celt Sound System at festivals. Enough of the one trick, already, pony.
There's plenty of great fusion out there though. But you're talking more specifically about traditional or folk music fusions. Can't say I know too many of those.
