Hugely important band for me, or at least their early singles and 80s material was. Very unique sound, powerful and melodic.

I practically worshipped them between 85 and 91, even through the ‘Outside the Gate’ years. Hugely influential. I listen to them a lot, and though Jaz is a tit sometimes, I still love them. The early stuff is great. The latter-day stuff is brilliant. Only the middle-era stuff is mediocre.

Pretty much what fonz said. The first three albums are immense (I think Revelations is massively underrated), and then they tailed off throughout the 80s until they began to find their feet again with Extremities, Dirt and Various Repressed Emotions. I wouldn't say they've been reliable since then, but they've occasionally reached the same sort of heights, and are still a great live act, I've seen them way more times than any other band. I do sometimes wonder how interested Jaz and Youth are in this sort of music now, with Youth being able to produce for and play with pretty much anyone he wants, and Jaz having his whole classical career. But if the next album raises the quality up again from the disappointing Pylon, I'll be getting it.

Pssyche is one of ther key anthems live, I think they play it as often as "Love Like Blood". Certainly the better song.

Follow The Leader is their best single though.

One of their very best, no doubt. You can mosh or disco dance to it, depending on your mood!

Coincidentally listening to a singles collection and enjoying the hell out of it (at least disc one, anyway). First Talk Talk, now this. What is happening to me?

Yeah. I’d love to know what Geordie’s vision of the next iteration of KJ would be. Who’d he have problems with, Youth or BP?

Youth had hinted on the KJ facebook page that it was all over as far as any new recordings were concerned before Geordie died, so I'm presuming it was him. Youth always seemed a bit of an outsider, especially as he'd been replaced before, didn't think the others were pulling their weight, and didn't need the hassle.

How many bands still make great records 35 years into their career though? I can't think of any.
