A gentle, tuneful, stoned, likeable PROG band for Preludin?
This is classy:
this is lovely:
this is silly:
have you anything to add or would you rather flip your brain cells about to the sound of silence this evening?

Four guys. "Caravan". the name seems a little grand for four guys, don't you think?

They are pretty much my go to "air rock" band.

I LOVE the first album now - was disappointed when I first heard it - and have always enjoyed at least half of Grey & Pink.
I've got most all their stuff, and suspect that much of it will continue to gradually grow on me.

I have the reissues of the first three. All great. But I'm not sure how much I can say about it because it's pretty much in my wheelhouse - semi-prog English whimsy, particularly from Canterbury - just can't think of much stuff like that I don't like.
Their music's just plain amiable.

They're okay. There's a lightness of touch there. Their records are pleasant rather than "great" though and I don't get the urge to play them very much, if at all.

I was just listening to the box set that goes through 1974. The first three years are great. After that, they still have the same lightness of touch, but the songs aren't as good, and the guitar and keyboard breaks get longer and longer and they become more typically prog.
I think they always keep some semblance of that silliness, but as with most things, it's all about the songs, and they peaked early as far as that goes.
