This just popped up in my YouTube feed:
I was lucky enough to have John Fry give me a tour of Ardent not once but twice before he died (first time by myself, second time with friends), and... it was lovely to see and hear him again here. What a gent. Jody Stephens, too (who's still around, thankfully).

Somewhat surprising this guy has been given a full Guardian obituary. I'd never heard of him and even after reading the obituary was none the wiser as to what he'd achieved to merit one. Is it simply that he was a mate of the guy who wrote the obituary? www.theguardian.com/music/2020/dec/07/rupert-webster-obituary

yeah, he's a stand in for the unwritten history of rock and roll, all the wrecked dreamers along the road, those who bent their lives to getting there, almost got there, and had to survive to live life thereafter, RIP

The 'Other Lives' section, from which this was taken, is a Saturday feature to celebrate non-celebrities, and the obits are written by friends or family rather than journalists.

Cheers.

I just had a random music flashback: I remembered seeing (but not hearing), during the Disco Era, a 12" single by an unfamiliar disco act consisting of versions of Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar" and "Money". I was amused and curious, but not enough to buy it. I never saw it again. Within a minute of having that flashback, I'd found the record on 45cat.com - it was credited to Rosebud, and it was released by major labels (Atlantic, Warners, Epic) in many territories but on an indie in France, from which I deduced that it was probably French in origin. And within another minute (how 'bout that internet, huh?) I'd found it on YouTube. Looking the "group" up on Discogs, it turns out they made an album: Discoballs - A Tribute To Pink Floyd. The song choices are surprising, and most of it is actually more interesting than the single (though not always a lot more). "Main Theme from More" "Arnold Layne" "Free Four" "Summer '68" "Interstellar Overdrive" I can't help but wonder how this stuff sold internationally at the time. EDIT: just learned that the orchestrations were done by Gabriel Yared, who has since become one of the big names in film scoring...

Johnny Cash bought Roy Orbison's house that had exploded and killed 2 sons. He built a new house on the land, which apparently was sold eventually after his death to the Bee Gees' Barry Gibb. Who wasn't able to move in because it burned down!

Fucking hell.
What is the point of tik tok? Apart from enabling the Chinese to gather private data of westerners I mean.

#youngpeoplesproblems
It’s a fucking alien world out there, get used to it Grandad
It appears to be a way younglings can check that their arses and lips are plump enough to conform to today’s standards

Taylor swift or her writing crew have this annoying knack of coming up with a catchy tune that i find myself humming or playing in my head before i cop myself on that i'm doing it. First it was 'shake it off' and now it's some tune called 'Me'. Fuck off.
