I have a phone interview at noon for marketing communications manager job with a large international distributor of "Life Sciences for Food and Nutrition, Personal and Home Care, Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Products. Industrial Solutions covers specialty markets for Coatings, Construction, Adhesives and Sealants, Inks, Plastics, Rubber, Lubricants and Enzyme Solutions." $4 billion company.
Considering I've been writing about modular memory for three years, it might be a bit more exciting.
Now, my commute is 20 minutes across town, but this one is in San Francisco. I would probably take BART, the regional light rail system, but it's still a relatively easy Bay Area commute at 45 minutes.
As I mentioned before, my supervisor is a nice guy, but a control freak that doesn't know how to delegate work. Sometimes I feel like one of those Japanese executives, who when they'd want to get rid of them, would take away their work and sit them in an office in the basement. There's work to be had here, but my supervisor doesn't know how to let go.
It would be a lot more money too. I saw a news feature the other day that anyone making a salary under $124,000 and living in the Bay Area is considered living in poverty. I do not make that now.

Accepted an offer to train and become a teacher, starting in September. One of the main reasons for doing so is the proximity - it's 20 minutes walk away - but also the simple realisation that I love History. I'm not going to be an academic at my age, I despise filling up other people's pension pots and I feel like it's a worthwhile thing. Fortunately I'm not the main breadwinner either.

First teaching job? and in what kind of place? I start teaching English at Newcastle College next week. It'll be good to get back to work after a rotten few months, but still - I'd rather sit about for a while longer.

My Mum has worked there on and off for years, she's done a lot of EV stuff for them too. Are you moving to the Toon then?

A bit shooting fish in a barrel, but you have to start somewhere!

I am, but I'm keeping the house here for a while, so there'll be some to-ing and fro-ing for a few months. I might meet yer Ma, then! it looks like a decent place to work.

I got the impression at the end of the conversation that she had to talk to two other candidates, but it was a formality and that I'd be included in next stage for in-person interview.

I have to make some signage for a server we're using for a tradeshow booth demo and I stupidly asked the engineer if we're still using the Dell server and got a 15 minute explanation on why we're using Samsung instead.
Thank god, he doesn't work on something I like, like pizza because I'd never eat it again after getting one of his explanations on how to make it in excruciating detail.

In a few minutes I'm going into a third meeting with our supply chain division heads who asked us to come up with a new web page on their site (one I conceived and directed) for a shipping and logistics company they're buying.
Neither other meeting did my supervisor ask me to do anything, which is my normal cue that he wants to do it.
Nothing has been done, subsequently, and the sale is due by the end of the month and they will want something up on the site.
I would bet $100 that he sloughs it off to me now, when if I had been given the job three months ago, I would've been done by now.

I'm writing a press release on a new line of products we're introducing and I'm emailing back and forth with the product manager, trying to get more info on them. He wrote me. . .
"Cost competitive industrial product with 3D TLC NAND providing the same endurance as MLC NAND available in both C-temp and I-temp in multiple form factors with a wide range of densities from 32GB for our lowest cost option up to 1TB for those who need a lot of storage."
I responded back, "Yeah, but do they come with cup holders?"

On the way to work, I heard a phrase previewing an interview as "I'm working to be as authentic as possible."
I was thinking about this. I hate that word, "authentic," but it seems like the caucasian way of "keeping it real."
