I'm off out to a gig tonight preceded by a cheeky Nandos. What's the attraction of that? Are you being serious?

I have managed to organise my various schedules of planning and marking - for example, I do 3 hours of planning on Saturday and Sunday between 6am and 9am, so that I'm not losing my weekend entirely. It does feel like I'm now on the Hamster wheel of basically getting through the week so that I can then plan appropriately at the weekend. although your job is much more challenging than mine, i know the feeling well. lesson planning is the bane of my life. of course, i've got many plans in reserve after all these years, but i always seem to have an advanced student who eats through them in no-time.

Don't know why you'd bother sitting down for a nice bit of food and then going to a gig?

It's a bit like MacDonald's but better. You know what you are getting, it's reliable and I like chicken and chips. Sometimes I just want shit like that. You can call it "chav food" but then I grew up on cheap, processed food a lot of the time cos I was such a fussy eater....oven chips, garlic kiev's etc so there is something enjoyable and nostalgic about that sorta thing for me. I'm not snobby about food unlike some LONDON TYPES. As it turns out we couldn't get a seat - town was a bit crazy and the food shortages seemed to be impacting on waiting times - so we ended up at Greyfriar's Bobby pub and I had a lamb pie with haggis mash and veg.

My son has notified us that the guy he's living with wants him to pay rent. First, it was $850 a month and Derek whittled him down to $500. Did I mention that my son works for this guy eight hours a day, seven days a week?
Through various texts and phone calls, we're planning on getting my son the hell out and landing here for a short time. He wants to go back to the Bay Area because my son says Eugene is too cold. He is living in Alaska, mind you.
My son said the guy is trying to back track now that my son looks like he's calling his bluff and wants to put my son in his will. I told my son, "Fuck that." I've dealt with an estate after a death and you don't want to have to deal with that. And who knows what kind of debts the guy has - you get those too, I'm assuming.
Plans are for him to fly back next Thursday.

Good to see he is returning. Is he keeping the land? He may need a little leeway to shake off any disconnect/wildness from there to non-Alaskan life. (I always remembered reading a Keith Richard's interview where he stated once he was living healthy he found he needed to travel after tours/recording sessions to decompress his own way in order not to kick in old behaviors. He feared coming from something intense like recording and touring, always in motion, to the stopped motion of just going home.)

We booked a flight and my ex and I just talked and apparently he had a talk with his boss/landlord and he's staying. The guy thought Derek was taking him for granted, like free work is taking for granted? My daughter bought the airline tixs on my card, but luckily she booked refundable. If you ask me, my son's boss/landlord is acting like a little bitch.

It's a strange thing having breakfast in a hotel. To me, anyway. Do you bother?
Cable car up to Brasov's Hollywood sign (after my cake) to mix with the brown bears! Didn't sleep much as the room was as hot as hell. Ach jo

Thinking about it. Bran Castle is close by but the whole Dracula connection is an invention apparently - an effort by the communist Romanian government to court tourism in the 70s.
Have discovered these great apple strudels (at least that's what they call them) in the Romanian version of Greggs - about 60p a go.
And LA REVEDERE means 'goodbye' and it sounds very much like the Italian 'arrivederci'. V lovely girl who shared my train compartment yesterday said it as she was leaving. But of course no other words exchanged 😢
