Too cutesy by half, but I love the jerky rhythms and the synth. And we all need a bit of fey in our lives sometimes, don't we?

I really love the song selection! Great variety, and suited with arrangements that seem to fit both his idiosyncrasies and the needs of the song. If only he was a decent singer! (I'm sure you've heard that one before.) That's the only thing that's keeping me from loving it. By the way, JC should know - he does "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep!"

By the way, JC should know - he does "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep!" Followed by a Michael Hurley song!

I heard a song on it that I thought was a really cool song so I looked up the lyrics - no hits! Then I googled the title - "Laura the Horse." It's his! Great song. I'm glad he represented both Hurley and himself.
And in the middle of all the late 70s/early 80s pop and punk, he sneaks in a really good John Anderson song. The diversity is wonderful, and speaks to his good taste. Some songs he sings rather goofily, but more in self-parody than lack of respect to the songs. He seems to love it all, even the stuff really unlike his own songwriting.
It must be said, the 'pitchiness' of his voice is rendered slightly more palatable by his charm and the tightness of the band. But only slightly. He makes Tom Verlaine sound like Pavarotti.

Do people remember this song? I remember it from a "New Wave" comp of the era. I was impressed at the time and still like it a lot. As per some comments in the cup, probably it's not Preludin's cuppa tea.

I dig it. It's got a bit of a Love vibe to it.
