Put simply, this individual said this in 2012 This has become news again since Owen Jones unearthed the article yesterday and posted it on Twitter saying 'I can't believe there were no repercussions over this'. Fair point, right? Ash Sarkar added her thoughts, and then - and this is where things REALLY kicked off - Julie Burchill jumped in to DEFEND Liddle and asked Ash the following question, which was interpreted by some as 'Islamophobia' Can you please remind me of the age of the Prophet Mohammad's first wife? Thank you in anticipation!
Burchill has since deleted her Twitter account - a big fucking deal for a journo like herself, naturally. Anyway there's lots more there if you're interested. Personally I think the fuss and bluster that has kicked off over the Burchill/Sarkar thing is kind of a red herring - it's Liddle who should be hauled over the coals for this. And it's not the first time the jelly-headed sack of shit has vomited all over the page only to be defended by his editors. Ho hum.

He touched a raw nerve because we all know that some teachers do have sexual relations across both sexes. It's a regular occurrence, obviously less now because safeguarding and the like ensures that if you are caught, you will never teach again.
I've said it before, but the Year 10 class I taught last year had girls, who out of school, looked 18.
Teachers build up empathetic relationships with students. The Greeks identified a particular kind of love between a teacher and a student. That would have been homosexual, because girls were not educated, yet at the same time I think it can be a powerful bond.
One of my wife's best friends married her teacher. Not straight away, but she always carried a card for him as it were.
Liddle was being characteristically candid here. He didn't do anything, he merely identified what is obviously a problematic area and vocalised it. That's all part of his style, which some find entertaining to read and others are repulsed by. And he does it precisely to repulse them too.

He's the one that's pals with Peter Perrett, right? Not a fan, but I like Burchill less.
I wonder what repercussions Jones thinks would have been proper? The less attention any of these people get the better.
At the risk of being an old man shaking his fist at a cloud, journalism sure ain't what it used to be.

I think I told you guys this, but when I was student teaching in my early 20s, a friend accompanied back to one of my classes after school to get some stuff to work on at home. We were walking through the halls and a couple cheerleaders from a class were practicing their routines and said "Hi" to me.
We got to the classroom and my friend turned to me and said, "I wouldn't last five minutes here."

If you wanna be even more technical about it, paedophilia is being sexually attracted to prepubescent children.
Also, a paedophile need not act on that attraction to be a paedophile.

Rod Liddle isn't a Tory. He voted Labour pretty much all his life until recently. He just writes for a publication that is Conservative in outlook.
Baseless accusations of Paedophilia against Tories are ridiculous when one considers that Labour councillors in Rotherham and Rochdale turned a blind eye to the rape of hundreds of teenage girls during the last two decades because they were worried about being racist.

He stress secondary school which suggests teens older than what you describe. The guy's still creepy as fuck, but i'm talking more about what said about tory to be honest.

Give the man some credit FFS's. We are talking SECUNDARY school here and by his own reckoning, we would not have 'dabbled' much with girls younger than, what, 16 years old? But seriously what does a person bring to confessions like this? What does he try to articulate? That he is a red blooded and potent stud? That given the opportunity he'll chase women (girls in this case) and they will all be up for it? Or, 'you probably wouldn't think so but even I will shag under-aged girls'? I am affraid he thinks this is pretty normal and everyone is the same under those circumstances. Burchill can fuck off too.

I don't know him so I just took what he said at face value. But seriously, he's stirring the shit to......what? Further the discussion?
