The 2021 cup will begin in the next few days. Most of us are familiar with the way these things run, but for those that aren't, here are some guidelines.
*There will be two leagues of 9 competitors. The top two from each league will contest the final. The ties have been drawn using a random online generator.
* Matches will played in a 'round robin' with each player playing 8 matches. This means there will be one competitor in each league that will sit out a round as a bye.
*I will endeavour to post two rounds of matches a week.
* Matches will last one week. I will not be timing the closure of the matches to the minute or hour, so it is recommended that you don't leave your voting until the last day, if at all possible.
* Voting and comments - Voting is open to all Preludin members. Guest accounts will not have their vote counted.
Please try and make your A or B vote clear and unambiguous. This has occasionally been an issue in the past.
Comments are strongly encouraged. We do want to avoid the endless one letter replies that marred some BCB cups. Reading the comments is a huge part of the appeal of the cups. I do understand that some of you may have huge demands on your time, but do try and comment if at all possible. What you decide to say is up to you, but it is worth remembering the adage ' attack the song, not the poster' when making your comments. So ' A's song is complete shit' is fine ( if a little blunt!), but ' whoever chose A is a complete shit' crosses a line, in my view. However comments will not be moderated, so that will be left to individual's discretion. It is also recommended that participants develop a thick skin!
* The tables will have the following format:
P = number of matches played, W = number of matches won, D = number of matches drawn, L = Number of matches lost, PD = points difference. If you win your first match 9-7 then you will have a points difference of 2, if you lose your next match 6-9 then it will fall to -1. Points difference will only be used to determine the order of competitors tied on total points. Ps = Total number of points. A win gets two points and a draw gets one point. In the unlikely event that competitors are tied on points and points difference, then the individual match between the competitors will be taken in consideration.
I think that's it! Use the rest of the thread for any questions, to moan about the music, or to say what an amazing job I'm doing etc
