A is verging on novelty but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s no Laughing Gnome though. I don't really like it in fact. B is OK - maybe it’s a grower.

For some reason I never got into King Solomon in the early 1960s when I was all over the great soul vocalists. Was this originally released in this stereo mix? That guitar in my right ear and vamping piano in my left seem to be in different rooms. Decent vocals, from SB and the backing group, but the production was weird. The players didn't seem to be listening to one another. 4.5/10
Another vamping piano. What goes on? Another decent vocal in a light tenor kind of way, but it's in thrall to 60s pop a bit, and while that was fine in pop singers from the 60s, not here. The production is a bit thick as well. No, not for me 3/10

Two songs that I'm about as close to neutral as possible. Leaning A here.

I really love Solomon Burke, and while A isn't among his best (yes, the backing vocals come on too strong), it's great.
I guess that whoever chose this is also posted The Turn in a prog or 21st century Cup, several years back, which was even more impressive. Fredo Viola is a bit of a one-trick pony, but I really like his trick!
It's a 50/50 for me, really, but I think Fredo needs more votes, so B

I thought A was pretty uninspiring. B was more enjoyable than expected without blowing me away.

And well played Sloop, nice pick. Had I been honest, I should have done a fange and vote for it.
