Noriega High School? I assume it's not named after Manuel. It's probably on Noriega St. José de la Guerra y Noriega, Governor of Alta California under Mexican rule.

Ms. Collins doesn't really have a leg to stand on re: Lowell HS. Much of the controversy re: Lowell admissions is so many Asian students get admitted, children of immigrants. Yes, there is meritocracy, and I'm sure it happens at Lowell, but I bet lots of Chinese parents would strongly argue with her.

These people are teachers too. I fear for American students.

These people are teachers too. I fear for American students. My eighth grade English teacher had never heard of JD Salinger. My 50+ yr old 10th grade Math teacher married a former student not even a year after she had graduated. I could go on... I think these kids will be just fine. Though I must say even I found the incessant Bernie mitten luv absurd. Meme culture is a bore.

It’s almost like you are arguing for a pro-racism status quo to be upheld.

And what a horrible agenda it is! It's almost like "conservatives" and "racists" have pushed their agenda onto children for decades.

Middle & High school would have been much more interesting if we had discussions such as the one mentioned in SF article. I might have even enjoyed going to school.
What I see are kids learning to think for themselves.

Is "anti-racism" a political agenda?
I get that 'prescribed language' and 'identifying' where privilege exists rather than discussing how it can be spotted it can be a slippery slope. I really do.
Anything that increases discussion and awareness is a positive, as far as I'm concerned.
