I'm not sure there is a wider point. I think there's a lot more music than Motown, R&B or soul that gets dismissed out of hand. I'm sure fonz would agree. And I wasn't dismissing it out of hand, I just thought it was fairly generic Motown with some extraneous touches, wasn't bringing anything new to the table for me.

The Isley Brothers' best stuff came before they joined Motown. Fuck harpsichords - or better still, take an axe to them and burn the fragments. Poncey shit instrument. Decent generic Motown song and good playing, as always, but the Brothers' voices - and that fucking plinkety-plonk nonsense gimmick - drag it down
Doesn't sound like the Feelies to me - wish it did, great band - although once the vocals came in, I can see the resemblance, and some nice guitar interplay, too. No trees uprooted, but no crap keyboards either, so B

Fair enough, but you won't hear another Motown record like it. Generic it ain't.

A is the Isleys, nice but sort of underwhelming, sorry
I really dig B a lot, great pick!

Well done HARV!
No regrets at picking the Isleys track though which is criminally underrated on here!

the anti soul/motown crew targetted this tie and sent out a message that will forever reverberate around the preludin cup.

I checked out that Necessaries album. Thought this was easily the best song.
