B is fun, though awful heavy on the kitsch.
A is the rare new track that I really, really love. And I'm not a Shakes fan particularly. I'm down with what she's saying and how she says it, and has the hybrid nature that I like out of my 'modern' stuff - it's got plenty of 'spirit of the old' to it too.

Like the grind of the first track over the odd, "XTC takes mushrooms and listens to glam album" of the second..Vote A

I had forgotten that Sailor...thing...existed. No way I'm pressing play on that. I hope they fucking drown.
B A wins in a landslide without my listening to it (although I may do so later out of courtesy)

I'm going to be predictable and say, again, the modern tune just isn't for me. It's not bad but I...I dunno, it's just like eating grass or something. Nothing much more to say.
Sailor - this one is sometimes compared to Roxy Music, which is strange, because even as a kid I remember thinking it was naff as fuck, more like Racey or Peter Skellern or something. Saturday evening Seaside Special on the telly. Now I can hear some similarities to RM but they let too much out of the bag for it to be a real classic. I mean, someone probably suggested they add Smurf noises to it and it was only because of the drummer's objections that they left them off. Dopey cunts
B, 'cos it's fun - but they're lucky this round

I listened to A because Hatz liked it. Tough choice as probably the only Preludin member who listens to modern R&B consistently.

A's pretty good. I dig its Prince vibe.
There's something that British people do very well, and that is make shite like "A Glass of Champagne". It could only come from England, and I'm not saying that in a bad way, but you guys sure have foisted a lot of crap on the world.

A is a slightly too tasteful slice of modern neo-soul that makes an attractive sound but never comes alive for me in any compelling way. It's a production job really that can't quite compensate for the lack of song. B is what you'd get if Roxy Music were formed by the members of Crackerjack. It's a bit preposterous and not always in a good way. It gets by on a certain brazen strength of personality, and I do like some of the keyboard sounds. But as someone who remembers it first time round, I can attest that it quickly becomes irritating.
Just..B

sailor... the band roxy music could have been. i much prefer glass of champagne to virginia plain, which this clearly takes as an influence. i also like how they don't take themselves too seriously. the follow-up single wasn't bad either. as hatz says, there is a bit of old school soul in A but i don't think it gels well with the more modern aspects of the song.

Spare us this modern soul shit. Productions in search of songs.
Sailor is a blast of pure pop joy.
