wow, this one's hard. both of these are really grabbing me today. I think I'm leaning towards the Kinetic track. it's new to me. Both songs IMO are way better tracks than songs but I went through a Nazz kick a while back and maybe I wore 'em down a bit. the Nazz don't seem to have made it to the pinnacle of Mount Overrated yet but it's nice to see them mentioned.
the Nazz seems a little better thought out & crafted but I think I'm having that "thrill of the new" so I'll trust my instinct & go with B

Never heard of the Kinetic - nice bit of footage and I'll try to find out a bit more about them, but this didn't have me falling about under the ironing board, as Harry Worth used to say
'Forget All About It' has been a big fave for many years, one of the Nazz's finer moments, and an easy win here

Tough call. [Name drop]That's my friend Thom on drums in A. I actually played with him once. (Presumably still) one hell of a drummer.[/Name drop] Great performance, and I like the song, but I'm not a huge Nazz fan all told, I must admit.
B is standard UK R&B/psych, but those are pretty high standards. And it is new to me, so...
I'll come back to this one.

i've never gotten the nazz. A starts off promisingly but the sickly bubblegum vocals ruin it for me.
finally some FREAKBEAT to vote on in the cup! the kinetic has a raga-rock hook going through it which brings to mind prime time yardbirds and then explodes at the end with an exhilarating jeff beck'esque solo. stunning!

Easiest match so far - Nazz by a mile. B is good in its way, a bit of energy and nice sound, but does little to get out of the also-ran bucket. A sounds a class above, great pick.

Ah, more jangly guitars. I have no choice.
Its A

I’m not a fan of either tune but B wastes 40 seconds of its 2 and a half minute length on a boring intro. The Nazz made better records than this but it is the better track.

In the end I'm going A. B has elements I like, but I think its obscurity and some attention-getting elements are obscuring the fact that it's pretty second-rate ultimately. Nice comp track, but ultimately pretty low on the 'wow' factor.
I should admit that I have a resentment toward the lionization of Rundgren. He's got maybe 10 really great songs (and no, this isn't one of them) in a 55-year career, and people treat him like he's Macca in '65 or something. His complete dismissal of the importance of his bandmates doesn't help either. Subject for another post at another time, I guess, but all is not forgiven just because this particular track is slightly better.

Like both. I’ll go with A today.

What Hatz wrote, except for his Rundgren critique.

I like both of these. The Nazz track has a slightly fussy feel which means it takes time for the song to emerge, but that's often the case with them. It's got a real shaft of sunlight exuberance about it though and comes alive on the chorus. It's actually pretty similar to the Crabby Appleton track that got a real kicking in one of the earlier rounds, yet people seem to really like this. Go figure.
I thought I'd mined this kind of 66 UK mod pop dry long ago, so it's rather refreshing to come across a completely new name. This reminded me of The Yardbirds doing 'Last Train to Clarkesville" and it was performed with enough liveliness to escape its slightly generic nature. Wish the wild guitar at the end had been made more of a feature of the track though. B
