Not a great singer, no. And maybe there was a touch of end-of-the-pier about him. But he was great for his time, the first to go BIG with a show based around his impersonations. He RULED 70s TV.

You're only saying that cos you know Ray will back you up! but TC was more one-note than Yarwood, Forsyth, any of them. Show him to anyone under 40 today and you won't even get a smile.
Amazing final moment THO

The BFI TV list should really be the last word on all this BBC vs ITV nonsense no one is saying that the bbc weren't great. the point is that there is a real snobbery against itv on here which has been mainly orchestrated by yourself.

TC was more one-note than Yarwood, Forsyth, any of them. Show him to anyone under 40 today and you won't even get a smile. Arrant nonsense, even from you. I know several under 40s - indeed at least one under-10 - who think he is hilarious. And note that I agree with you, but you don't need to have any more than one-note if its as pure and bright as that. That rare thing, a comedian who was almost always on, a naturally funny man.
Nothing against (or particularly for) Yarwood, Forsyth was ladyparts, a really nasty individual.
