This is absolutely epic and joyous, isn't it? If you don't like it, you've got to be partially dead inside, surely?
Btw, there should be a word for when something makes you think of something else, when there isn't a genuine connection, just a very vague similarity which would only spark the connection in a mistaken kind of way. Neo-liminal melliflua, something like that. I was listening to BBC 6 Music in the car, and they played "Sweet Disposition" by Temper Trap, and the intro made my brain crackle and shout IRON MAIDEN NUMBER OF THE BEAST.

So, agree with my initial post, or share two songs which aren't similar but your frazzled psyche somehow made a connection between.
Or don't, I don't make the rules here. Just a suggestion, y'know.

i don't mind some NWoBHM in the right environment. one of my work mates was into it and we used to go drinking after a work in the 'royal george' off charing cross road and 'the intrepid fox' in wardour st. some strange characters in both places but we always had a good time. i also went to see judas priest with him.
this is brilliant just because it's so absurd.

What distinguishes NWoBHM for me from the turgid, quaalude/mandrax/barbiturate sound of the Sabs, Heep and the whole unholy crew is the sheer rush and energy, and the promotion of treble over bass - 'joyous' is an excellent word - it's pop, in a good way, connects with the upside of adolescence, the energy. I never heard Tender Trap before, but I can see what you mean, especially that galloping intro. I listened to both right the way through. As refreshing as a grapefruit.
Judas Priest are more on the thumpy bass end, but Rob Halford always struck me as someone with a sense of his own absurdity and the track that skope posted is a fine single to my ears.

Breaking the Law is great fun. It's a pop song and a silly one at that which I'm completely down with.
Always reminds me of these two fellas of course....

Crikey. Four opinionated, niche-taste, posters sort-of bonding over pop-metal. It's a wonder.

Well, if i had to choose between some 80s Maiden and the freakin TT, it's "Let's go, Bruce!" every time.
That by the way, doesn't really mean i am a fan in any way, but there are a couple of their songs that are indelibly lodged in my head, and i admire as examples of pure catchy dumb hard rock. This is one...

We can always rely on that bloody-minded contrarian, fange, to break the consensus.

No mention of your wheelhouse.
Easily the most brutal putdown you've ever proferred

It's wheelhouse adjacent. I'm not really a fan of the BAND in any way, is what i meant. As a teen living in the 80s, Maiden fans and their dress sense were an absolute eyesore.
