Hmmm, maybe we could run a side competition, "Guess whose track it is". Finalists would have to do it through PMs.
I reckon I can get 'em all, so I'll take up the challenge!

this cup really should have been re-titled 'the preluding jazz cup'.

Seldom have I seen/heard a collection of songs forwarded by music lovers that tested my patience to this level.
Let me be frank, this is - a few exceptions apart - a pile of toss.

About time this dreadful SMUG-BUBBLE was punctured!

At some point I think we should stop looking for treasures under the bottom of the boot. There's none left, I'm afraid.

I find the negativity around the cup these days quite dispiriting I must say. I think the final has a lot of really good stuff and I'm not just thinking of my own selections when I say that.

At some point I think we should stop looking for treasures under the bottom of the boot. There's none left, I'm afraid. Of course there is, there are millions of tracks out there. Even if you restricted yourself to one genre - Northern Soul say- you could find some great tracks that the majority of people wouldn't know. What the cups reveal isn't the limited number of great tracks out there, but the limitations of our own individual tastes as voters, and I very much include myself in that. Darkness Fish, say, could pick some underground Belgium industrial record from the mid eighties and I'd likely diss it because it just isn't my thing. But it could be a real connoisseur's pick, it's just outside our frame of reference.

Yep, i agree G. I have hit on some nice discoveries this Cup, just as i always do. I think the competition aspect can wear some people down, get a bit draining or unenjoyable maybe.
