I know we're all supposed to love PP Arnold's era of soul, but I think you have to evaluate artist by artist and not just the genre's era.
I like this Pixies' song.

“Treat me like a Lady” is great. I’m convinced. I’ll pull out her chair & light her cigarette. But, i’m Going to need to go for A. I just felt all nostalgic & Dad-Rocky by listening to the Pixies. It felt great. I can’t wait to do it again.

I can see why The Pixies guitar sound made such an impact, but they were a bit of a one idea band and Shouty Bob's vocals can quickly become a bore. Something you certainly can't say about PP ( even though someone will!). Immediate didn't always get it right with her, but this is one of the highlights, a bubbling funky stew of delight that could've come out of Muscle Shoals. Lovely stuff! An easy B

i think that's the first time i've knowingly listened to a pixies track. some of it is not bad musically, but the singing grates.
the p.p arnold track is ok, nothing to write home about, but it's more my thing.

B just sounds like a billion other things. It’d be alright at a wedding or something-get the rabble going. The Pixies irritate me, but you can’t deny their influence, and I do like bits, so

Really poor Pixies choice - one of the worst tracks on their worst album. Somebody needs their head testing.

The pixies sound like the pixies, pp Arnold sounds generic, and I'm finding it difficult to remember anything interesting about either, 10 seconds after listening.
Abstain.

Yeh, that would be close to my last choice if I were to go for a Pixies tune.
I had to look up the PP Arnold tune to see who wrote it, thinking it might be an Ike & Tina number, but she wrote it herself, so I guess the Turnerisms must come from Mick Jagger's production on the track (according to Wikipedia). Either way, I'm not so sure I like her voice that much but it's a better track than the Pixies cut.

Sometimes it's a simple matter of who you'd rather hear sing. Easy, easy B.

I like both of these! They are good, individual choices, showing a personality, and i'm all for that. B is the one i'm more likely to play these days though.

A is Pixies by numbers, but I love it.
In fact I prefer it at the moment, sorry B
