The Purple Hearts
Not that arsed about it but a massive tick for the proto-Sharpie hairdos. Magnificent.
Paul Revere
Not as wild as I remember, perhaps I’m thinking of THE NAZZ’s version.

Kicks is a good song and I've heard a few more from them that were fine too, but I could never get pass the silly dressing. Few years ago I saw they were playing in cruises and of course still wearing those suits
And A singer dancing was really cool, besides the song's merits.

A is more a performance in search of a song.
B is better.

A is more a performance in search of a song. Yes, exactly. Struggling to hear what others hear in it.

A is more a performance in search of a song. Yes, exactly. Struggling to hear what others hear in it. the raiders' track is quite leaden in comparison. sometimes the song is not as important as the attitude. i am surprised that 'kicks' is getting such a kicking 'THO. i'm hoping that like me, the rest of preludin is finally making a stand against obvious and unimaginative picks.

It's a cover of the Rosco Gordon classic 'Just A Little Bit', by a garage beat combo. What were you expecting, 'A Day In The Life'?

A is more a performance in search of a song. Yes, exactly. Struggling to hear what others hear in it. The guitars sound like The Velvets!

A is more a performance in search of a song. I truly don't understand all the love for this one. The performance hides the fact there's not much there there.

I'd never heard it. I like how "tightly wound" it is - like an old wind up alarm clock that's about to go SPROING. "Kicks" is on my bottomless playlist and deserves it's featured spot on "Hits of the 60's" collections. I won't say a word against it but it's fun hearing something new to me that really does have something going on for me.
maybe I should vote again. it won't be new to me the next time I hear it. NAW. what the hell. I think It's a blast.

I guess this is quite a compare and contrast, the skope-off round. Sadly I can't comment on sartorial elegance, having none myself, and not watching the videos. A might not have much of a song, but it has energy, enthusiasm, and guitars that sound electric. The problem with B is that it has verses that really sound like they're building to something, and when the chorus kicks in it's a Freddie and the Dreamers limp lettuce, kind of embarrassing in its lameness. If they'd have joined forces, something great could've happened.
A for me.

I'll have a salami on rye with swiss, extra pickles, hold the Freddie & the dreamers limp lettuce.
