The runaways have never come up with anything that I wanted to hear again, I'd lump them in with Fanny and KISS. A load of noise and attitude and not much more.
B is not really my bag but it's nearer.

Both pretty average in their respective camps, neither of which are in my current interest scope, but I can easily go through. That said I guess A has got an extra pinch of salt to be a tad more palatable here.

The Runaways chugga-chugga rock really doesn't do much for me, though I did think that "we're the kids in HATE" refrain was kinda funny.
RP sit nicely amongst the hardcore-adjacent weirdos that I enjoyed listening to in the late 80's.

The Runaways were never quite the same after Cherie Currie left and Joan Jett took over on lead vocals: they last their pop edge and took on a thicker, more generic, rock sound. This is typical of that, and, although he is credited as co-producer, there's none of the usual Fowley glitter about it.
Always associated the RPs with the anarcho-punk Crass community/aesthetic, with their wonderfully-packaged underproduced recordings - the vocalist/guitarist's artworks/sleeve decorations are featured in this video, and he now makes a living as an outsider artist. The sound was always secondary, and never reached the heights of, say, Zounds, but this is a perfectly fine chug from the three-piece: only disappointkment was that they usually wrote a decent witty lyric, but even on three listens I can't make this one out.

Runaways
Proving that chicks can rock as mediocrely (is that a word?) as dudes. Now that’s progress.
Rudimentary
I’ve got a soft spot for the Peni (ha ha).

This end of 70s rock does nothing for me. The drums are decent enough but you're always going to be struggling if that's the best thing you can say.
I love Rudimentary Peni (Cacophony is my favourite punk album), Blinko's artistic approach gave them a charisma which stands ahead of their peers in the anarcho scene. One of my favourite fake Wikipedia facts was the line that claimed Gaby Roslin chose 'Alice Crucifies the Paedophiles' from this album as one of her Desert Island Discs.
