Oooh now...both pretty good! First time for me.
I'm going to give it to the Runaways, 'cos they're just a little bit cooler, even with all the shouting! But thanks for the Rudimentary Peni intro, whoever - that's a fine little number. I'll do a bit of digging...

B is indeed rudimentary. Not that that's a bad thing; it's a good riff, and it's energetic and concise as can be, but it's not something that's going to linger in the memory for any longer than it takes to play.
A is of course a 'moment in time' more than anything universal as well, but as the years go by, and more and more talented female musicians pick up the mantle, I grow to appreciate just how revolutionary they were at the time. It helps that you don't need the caveat "for a bunch of girls." They rock with purpose, and can certainly play their instruments just as well as the guys with the same aesthetic could. Bless 'em.

The Runaways could be very average. B is the shit I like.

oh man, I think A walks this one. that guitar solo alone made me get up and put on some pants.
you know, I think the Runaways are getting pretty fucking famous. a lot of good that does them now but they certainly deserve it.

Like both

I assume the poster for Peni is the same as the previous Test Tubes, hoping to see more of the same throughout the cup. I like the punk/oi motif.

Always found The Runaways sort of average and this track is no exception..the RP track simply has more energy to it..Vote B

Good match, i like both here. They rely on energy and riffing, and luckily they both have more than enough to keep me interested. A is the one i felt like playing again after, though.

If A was Little Sister singing Somebody's Watching You, it would get my vote, but it isn't B makes me want to go out and hit old people.

Neither do a lot for me, but I will say The Runaways track has quite a punch, I just can't find much of a song there. As for B, there were a lot of these third rate punk bands around in the early 80s - Chron Gen, Anti Pasti, Vice Squad etc. I didn't rate any of them. The sub Crassisms of B are very unappealing.

Well, I'm hoping it's better than "Cherry Bomb", the dull chugging guitars are still there, but at least the vocals have a bit more energy about them. Still, sounds more like fat blokes with flares, or KISS or something than you'd hope. This kinda thing is really as much not my thing as the cheesy 70s soul thing.
I've never quite got the underground kudos that Rudimentary Peni have, they never really sounded particularly adventurous or exciting, though Nick Blinko's artwork is always nice to see. The bass is really the saving grace of this, has something of The Fall at their best about it, it's a pity the vocal is so poor, because the guitar cuts through quite nicely at times. Still, it's obviously superior in everyway to A.

B is more my kind of thing than A. I like ‘Cherry Bomb’ though. Good memories. I did choose RP- they escaped me first time around, whereas I was a dirty teenage fan of PATTTBs. ‘Pissed and Proud’ was one of ‘our’ albums, with its mix of energy and humour. They sounded like a gang. RP seem pretty one dimensional in comparison, But B then.
