It's not very substantial. I didn't expect much, though, so it wasn't a disappointment either. Better than Free As a Bird. Somewhere between hit and shit -- at least it doesn't have the stench of Jeff Lynne about it. (though now that I think about it, it kind of does.)

Syrup overdose and alien to its time as it is, I still kinda like it. Maybe it's just because I sympathize with him getting comfy after some troubled existence, or that I cannot split this song with his tragic end, but I resist to call it shit, even if I rate it well below his heights.

i always associate it with his murder which adds some poignancy to it.
it's pretty average stuff if you don't take that into account.

I say Hit, although i can't remember if it was one in Australia. I like it; there is a warmth and comfort there, like the other end of the spectrum from the primal therapy-era Lennon. Does it excite me though? About as much as a comfy pair of slippers.

We've had this one a few times over the years and I'm always surprised by the praise for it. It's actually a contender for the worst thing he ever did. It always reminds me of Chas and Dave's "Ain't No Pleasing You", except I genuinely think the C & D track is better. It's cheap tinsel pub karaoke.

We are usually lucky and these Beatle threads fade pretty fast.

speaking as a short haired, yellow bellied Son of Tricky Dicky, I always enjoyed the attention. HIT

I'm pretty much with G. I was very much anticipating his return to action (funny how five years seemed like such a long time then!), I snapped up the 45 on day of release without having heard it first, and... what a letdown. (Yoko's flipside was a nice surprise, though.)

He could sing, and knew his way around an augmented chord. And it has a lovely sentiment. Not going to claim greatness for it or anything, but I prefer it to "Watching the Wheels" or "Cleanup Time" or "Beautiful Boy" by miles. It's not as good as "I'm Losing You."
And yeah, the B-side is really good.
I voted 'hit.'
