I guess the madvillain has the least commercial packaging. But I don't think i would saddle anything with the albatross/kiss of death title of "work of art". In the great scheme/skope of things they all would qualify, but hopefully that wouldn't get in the way of people enjoying it, as we have seen with the Beatles' silliness.

It’s all art.
Not my taste, in the same way that Impressionism or Mozart aren’t my bag.

It's sad what Kanye's beeen reduced to. He is one very talented dude.

Echoing the "it's all art" commments, but the Kanye and 2Pac are bad art, imo. Never understood the 2Pac appeal, but what a lame track to sample. I never really got MF Doom, but he's the best of that bunch. Didn't mind the last one though, has a nice laid back appeal.

the only one that matches the Madvillian track for me is the Kanye. yeah, I know. BUT - it's a slammin' track and he IS saying something.
art and a dollar won't buy you a cup of coffee until somebody DIES. this makes art & popular music an odd couple. I'll defend it all as art but I wonder what'll stand the test of time.

That Tupac song is TERRIBLE. Naff beyond words. I never understood the hype around him. It sounds horribly dated.
I liked that Kanye West album and I like the track too. He's not a rapper, he's a producer really but he's had his moments.
The Madvillain album got really good reviews but I never bothered with it. The accordion is a nice touch.
I don't listen to much hip hop these days.

Never really got in to hippity hop outside of a few tunes, it's transformation from the early days to today is a total 180. I mean to go from Tupac and biggie to... Hippity Hop is in safe hands.

Yeah, those early days of hip-hop are legendary. It's as if Biggie and Tupac came from nowhere, when the genre first emerged in the 90s.

I like 2 Pac but that I agree that is not his best song or a good example of the G Funk thing.... I mainly picked it because it was my entry point.
He is good when you are out a run and need an aural pick me up......
I actually meant to include this number as well....
The spoken word fades out around the 90 second mark.....
