another poor match up.
B began to antagonise me and it wasn't helped by seeing the singer's ugly mug spinning round and round.
at least i could tolerate lambchop but i do find them too clever for their own good. a bit of a pseud's band.
A

A pretty dispiriting match up for me, which, in their different ways, exemplify much that is wrong with 21st century guitar pop/rock. I do quite like some Lambchop but this track had me very unimpressed. It was just dull to listen to, shorn of energy or invention and the production trick of having some unrelated backing track or vocal going on in the background was just annoying. But B was, if anything, even worse; a plodding take on mid 80s Goth with a dreary song and no invention or imagination at all. I'm sure I'll give these a second listen over the next week in the hope something emerges of a vaguely positive nature, but for now abstain

Two bands I like, with two tracks I wouldn't have gone with. Not that I dislike either, but Cup-wise, not sure they play to the larger audience..(I had a Lambchop and Liars song on my "L" short list)..The first track works a tad better, so Vote A

Likewise desperately trying to find something to connect with on either of these. If only Lee Morgan could have gone against one of these.
A seems to have something to it, as much as it does its best to distract from it.

B fun, modern trax
Lambchop have some great tunes, but if you are going to do mopey you need great vocals, Orbison, Etta James level.

neither video does either song any favors IMO. A never really goes anywhere but I enjoy the not getting there. B starts off much stronger but I think it sort of gets in a rut before it's over.
I guess I'll go B. I'm getting on in years and I'm learning to appreciate a strong start.

Neither of these were particularly bad, but there was no evidence there of any of the qualities I look for in music.
There's a LOT of music like this - it exists because someone was pressured to make it, rather than inspired. At least that's how it seems to me.
Abstain.

I always had lambchop figured as some kind of alt-country thing, whereas this sounds more modern-soul influenced. The vocal effects are annoying, I think this could possibly have been an interesting ambient-ish piece of instrumental pop, but all that vocodering/auto-tuning is really irritating me. I'm not sure I'd like his voice without that, either, to be fair.
I have one Liars single, the one with the Neubauten artwork, and it's rubbish. This is much more polished sounding than that effort, feels much more reminiscent of latter-day Interpol. With Marilyn Manson on vocals. I can see why this round isn't really getting people's hearts racing. I guess that guitar riff is a bit Mission-esque, but I wouldn't really have described it as a goth influence without G mentioning it.
Both tracks are kinda underwhelming with terrible vocals. But B is less objectionable to me.

Three abstains from the usual whiners/wieners Can you stop attacking other posters in this way. It's completely unnecessary. Thanks.

Both are so far removed from anything that I consider to be enjoyable listening that I'm having trouble mustering the enthusiasm to vote for either.
Flip a coin.

As is all the cry baby antics and marginalizing from the three posters who stopped listening to new music since 1996. Completely unnecessary, abstaining should not be an option.

A because it's more tolerable than B.

That's 1997, thank you very much! I don't care for either, I'm stunned both are still around -- they make me think of 2002. A is one second shorter.
