This is new to me. I was enjoying it before the voice came in - not that it's terrible, but it's too far up and gets in the way of the backing track, which is full of interesting textures.
I have, or had, this Unrest album on vinyl, but remember little or nothing about it, so this sounds relatively fresh to me. I like the circular riff, the vocals less so, but they're all right. Like DF said, the chorus is a bit of an intrusion, but over all, I think this just about edges the tie as far as I'm concerned.

That's just 13 votes on this tie, lots more action on the other U rounds, wonder why.

Some people seem to give up a bit halfway through! I must admit it's disappointing how many of the competitors appear to have dropped out of the voting. I think we should make it clear in future that any entrants are expected to vote for the duration of the competition (within reason of course, I do understand real life can intrude sometimes) and if they can't commit to this, then they shouldn't sign up. Thank goodness non-entrants like Freap and Morgan have made the effort to continue voting.

But it's always been like this, on bcb as well as here, in the track against track cups at least.

We've moved from 'bit of an obvious pick' to 'oh I've heard that one before'. Voting against tunes because they're familiar. Think about that for a minute. How many discoveries have people made? Where's the thread for that?

Where's the thread for that? It's only a few voters that say that and then only about a few picks. And if they do so what? It's all part of the cut and thrust. You're just pissed off because you've only got three points!

Honestly not! I didn't put a whole lot of thought into my choices for this one. Why bother?
Anyway, enjoy the cup.

Voting against tunes because they're familiar. Think about that for a minute. How many discoveries have people made? Where's the thread for that? I've genuinely not seen anyone vote against something purely because they've heard something before. But surely if two songs are similar, the less familiar pick is more interesting by definition? The entire point of the cup for me is to hear new and different music. It's not like its a genuine competition, and 15 people saying A or B means anything. Extradition, Eluvium, Lhasa and Laura Viers have been the finds so far, off the top of my head. And fange's overlong jazz stuff has all been interesting. I literally don't know what you'd hope to get out of this but the chance to hear something new, and to read other's opinions on the songs you've picked.

I’m right up to date on the voting just now, although I did miss voting on the last few ties in L, including that fantastic Lanzon & Husband pick! It’s absolutely not because I’m bored – I love the cups – but rather a case of being grievously overworked some days and taking other days off when I ostracize the hell out of the computer for the good of my back.
