A was already in match 2... No it wasn't. Two different tracks from the same album.

Battle of the repeaters! Better than the previous track in both cases. Of course it's still 8 fucking minutes of Ulver. Glad we were spared the throat-shedding at least.
B gets to the point and gets out. It's pretty much all the good stuff about them without any of the bad.

Oh, I like the other Ulver track way better. This one reminds me too much of when bands like Helmet roamed the earth. B by a micro-millimeter. I was only about 5 “here comes the summer”s away from pulling My hair out by the roots.

Won't say A is valueless, but it's not for me to find its value. You may as well ask me to swim the Atlantic...
I seem to be in a minority in thinking The Undertones got better as they went on. The next year they'd hit a real sweet spot with the Wednesday Week/It's Gonna Happen singles. This, as Snee notes, is pretty slight, but it would be churlish not to find pleasure in its sheer good natured optimism.

I'd echo G's point about The Undertyones peaking with 'IGH' etc. B is Ok. Fun and uncomplicated.
I'm not keen on Ulver's singer, but the music's pretty good, especially when it changes direction towards the end. They have a debt of gratitude to Opeth, whom I love.

I like B better than the other Undertones song in this round. Concise and fun.
I like A better than the other Ulver song in this round. I appreciate the lack of growling.
Hmm.
A needs more love.

Fuck me! I had planned to give A a 20 sec listen out of courtesy, but finally played it all the way through and even enjoyed it a lot. A good idea to replace the guy yelling in the other track by some monks doing Gregorian Chant. There was also some melody in the guitars and I even got a scent that reminded me of Wishbone Ash! I honestly liked it a lot.
I also liked B. Direct and funny. But I want to reward surprise.
Against all odds
