Hmm, more Bowie -- I see a pattern here. I like A much more than B

Poor Dave. It's hard when your thoughts outpace your ability to express them. If I were you I'd throw on some cargo shorts and rock out with a Flying V guitar. Nobody'll give a shit about your thoughts if you do that.

What the fuck is that Bowie song like! It’s utterly rubbish. I am insulted. Is this from David’s cowboy period? I have no illusions that B will garner many votes, and the picture of the dude does not hint at the glory of the song it represents. This is a lovely track, with a bit of heaviness, but the real power is on the harmonies with the European female singer. Described as his ‘ABBA’ moment. Please listen to it. It’s a great pick.

Ah, the Bowie cup! Figures that would happen. Is there more yet?
Anyway, A is the deepest dig so far, for what that's worth.
B was fine for what it is, but...not my scene, maaan.

yeah, I'd rather be part of the solution than the problem but I've got to go A D is for David Bowie, I guess. it's more of a curiosity but that counts for something.

A has a bit more meat than previous Bowie pick. Not much more, mind.
But I liked B much more, I liked the sound and the whole vibe. Nice one.

You can see why CP didn't make the album. It's an attempt at the sincere, confessional singer-songwriter mode of the time, with appropriately Laurel Canyon stylings, but it meanders in a not terribly gripping way. Sometimes digging deep doesn't always bring rewards. B is like Europe without the big chorus..that is to say completely pointless.
A but poor tie.

Ugh, this is pretty bad, all that country-tinged bass and guitar, with a fairly cack vocal. Not for me, Bob.
B is also pretty bad. Sorry fonz. 80s stadium rock stylings really don't do it for me. But it can have a vote for not being Bowie.

A is charming, rather inconsequential early Bowie – best of the bunch.
One of the things that fascinates me about pop music is the way the chorus sometimes follows so naturally from the preceding verses that you can kind of hear it before it happens – but in a good way. Or something. Anyway, B is the reverse of that principle. It starts off mellow but you know it’s going to switch up the tempo and get all thrashy – Lord it annoys me. It’s an early warning system, in its way. Not only that, but the chorus has this nasty, soaring, anthemic quality about it. No, I don’t like B at all.

I thought
A
was pretty good! it wasn't quite as bad as some 1969 DB I've heard. The lyrics are pretty gauche but at least he dials down the Antony Newley bullshit that was such a feature just a year or so earlier. There's a sweetness there.
The other thing is just atrocious.

Wow... interesting match 😂 A is ok, but tbh i'd rather listen to B this afternoon. It's the kind of thing that tickles my soft rock hotspot.
