A is the song Tracy Ullman had a hit with in 1984 or something. It's poor.
Ian Dury. Why go for the live version again? Was this deliberate? This has happened about three times in the last couple of rounds. Very odd. It's not like this is superior to the record in any way.
Anyway it's a fave, I really do love it. An easy win

Never really cared for the Dury song..a crooner he ain't.
A was a lot of fun, capturing the girl group sound as it morphs into a soul stomper.

Dury’s always been more miss than hit for me, and this song misses me. A is not stellar, but it rides this contest.

A is a lot of fun, better than the other Irma in this round. Gallops along, runs out of ideas, pisses about awkwardly for 20 seconds, and ends.
B is again too close to pub rock for me all that hammering at the piano. It's strange that such a theatrical, lyrical showman chose a lumpen format.

I like A less than the previous Irma, but telling that it's pretty different. A bit too manic, maybe, but the degree to which she's both identifiable and varied in approach wins me over more and more the more I listen.
I've come to like Dury a great deal, and that's a sweet song, but it's a) a bit obvious - there's that word again, and b) not a particularly inspired version.

File Ian Dury under "artists whose appeal eludes me".
A is great - the backing vocals are excellent!

So that's why I know the song.
And no it's not.
It's nothing short of a revelation for me. Fabulous, cheers A

I really quite dislike Dury. A is a real blast and has handclaps.

A is fanfuckintastic. Perfect down to the tiniest detail.
Of all the well known songs by Dury this is easily the weakest. I enjoyed this nice live version though. Maybe one of his more idiosincratic numbers (Wake Up, Hit Me, What a Waste...) would have been closer, but this is far from

I like this Irma WAY better than the other but I feel obligated to say that I DO get Ian Dury. I read a luke warm record review of "new boots.." that quoted the line above. I think it's pretty great.

If B was There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards it would be different

I'd like to have voted for Irma again but the song doesn't show her vocals to their full advantage. Not a great Duty fan but I love this and the studio version. Neither this nor Hit Me are as good as that Kilburn song about Billy Bentley promenading his arse around London

The Irma is slight though I was prepared to vote for it.
I don't think I have ever seen Ian Dury not in a wheel chair, the song would have been better served by the studio/single version.
B needs some love
