I like B - that full-on 70s nostalgia for 50s rock was really popular, huh - but A is a blast and hard to go past.

B is one of my favourite Ian Dury tunes but it can’t hold a candle to

of all the tracks to pick from irma's back catalogue, breakaway is the most obvious and overplayed. i like it, but it's not something i'd ever go out my way to hear again.
i prefer the studio version too of SWGV, but this version was fresh enough.

A real rarity, two tracks I know and love.
A is the B-side of the unutterably brilliant self-penned Wish Someone Would Care, the first of her fantastic run of double-sided singles on Liberty, and my introduction to the greatest soul singer of them all. The fact that the song – by far, the poppest and most up-tempo she ever recorded - survived Tracy Ullman is a testament to its quality
Ian lived in Canterbury when I was hanging around there in the early ’70s, and I occasionally saw him limping around, but was astonished when he emerged with Kilburn and the High Roads and then his own band. New Boots and Panties was a very fine album, and this song was a stand-out, but this live version isn't really up to it.

Irma
A jaunty and fun look into coercive control and (implied) domestic violence. Great times.
Ian
Not one of his best (oh you know them). He needs some love but he can fuck off.
