It's important to say "NO!" to Nick Cave once a day, everyday.

Got that sinking feeling when I saw both tracks were over seven minutes until I realized the Nick Cave one plays twice - with sound then without. No idea what's up with that, but it's sure a relief. Anyway, I'm pretty ambivalent on the whole Nick Cave thing - there are some records by him I like a great deal, but just like anyone else I do occasionally tire of his shtick. Anyway, this is somewhere in the middle, but stems from the period when I was still listening to new stuff by him somewhat excitedly.
And NMN appearances are of course now every bit as predictable. I feel the same 'somewhere in the middle' way about them - sometimes I'm sick of them, sometimes they'll catch me at just the right moment for me to really appreciate what they do. But even at their very best they're just a second-rate Minutemen or Primus or something. And this one actually is seven minutes long. Nice last minute, but the rest of it's kind of a slog.
So A.

I'll call this round "Hello, My name's NOT Johnny Cash" sheesh. A I guess even though that drummer IS a motherfucker. I'm not sure if NC has been play acting longer but it seems a little more accomplished.

Both a real chore to get through, but there's more craft going on in A.

Paraphrasing the old proverb, I'd tell B to play only if your music is more beautiful than silence. And here it isn't. No. And no means no.
I like Nick Cave, especially his first few records. And I have always loved this tune.

Ah - third-rate 'street poetry', stories of drunks and fights and city streets, and here it isn't even remotely original, all the cliches trotted out one after another in a truly dreadful US accent. You get a similar thing with Waits, but at least with him it's mixed up with pure surrealism, there's some originality there. OK when you're twenty and impressionable and On The Road buzzed your brain - but you see through it when you're older. It's bullshit. Not for me, not in this iteration anyway.
I don't have the stomach for B's kind of thing any more, it's just showing off really, substituting a kind of high-level technical craft for a lack of imagination or melody. Hopeless.
Abstain.

A is florid and over-wrought. B is OK – I mean I wouldn’t actually choose to listen to it. I'm struggling to work up much enthusiasm for either pick to tell the truth.

I just find Cave to be a bit pretentious. The music is no good, and the rest of it is meh
I haven’t heard B before. It’s got stuff in common with Rollins Band, which I have a lot of time for, so,

Blimey, picking a Nick Cave track around here is a brave step. I'm not saying he's divisive, but religion and politics have caused fewer arguments. Then picking an irritating narrative one, the kind of thing which really presses the old cliche buttons. Nice violin THO'.
And this starts off in similar fashion. Sounds like it could be more promising, though I'm hoping it actually breaks into a tune soon. Feels very sub-Jello Biafra so far. Get on with it. Nope this is dragging on forever, and I'm not hearing any impressive drumming either - did you all click on the right link here?
A, with no enthusiasm.

I got on with A a lot better by not watching the video. B wasn't too bad either.
A slightly apathetic A.
