I went to see a friend's band last night, who were supporting Blancmange. For that don't know them, BM had a couple of synthpop hits in the early 80's, "Living on the Ceiling" in particular, which stills gets a fair amount of airplay on Radio 2.
It was the fans that struck me last night. Mostly blokes, mostly bald or fat and in their 50s, wearing either polo shirts or badly fitting Depeche Mode t-shirts. You see these fans at all of these sorts of gigs, whether it be Kraftwerk or whatever. A certain section of a fanbase that represent a certain time and place. They don't change, which is what I always find sort of weird for some reason.
Anyway, time to talk about fans at gigs.

The thought of Blancmange being someone's favourite band is too depressing to bear.
