there's an old Zappa interview where he says a really famous band had their biggest hit with only their singer on it - that the rest was the producer sampling others.
I always wondered he was talking about "owner of a lonely heart"

MIA so far: Smiths Madness Jam Fall REM I think for a single to be the greatest of the 80s it has to sound like it could only have been made then. These lot made some great singles but they could’ve all come from mid 60s to the late 70s. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.
