money is just a social convenience, with no intrinsic value. oh Ray honestly if you found a little package of cash on your doorstep you'd be delighted. We all would. um, no.

You'd probably be a bit worried or perplexed about where it came from? You wouldn't just grab it with a broad grin and go down the pub singing "we're in the money" would you?

I'd assume it was a gesture of thanks from BCBers and Preludiners for all the joy and entertainment I have provided them with over the years, G.

Well I didn't mean it literally - I just wanted to get across the magical aspect, the surprise of getting something unexpectedly.
Anyway I can see I'm WASTING MY TIME HERE

You'd all return wallets stuffed full of money to the police, wouldn't you?
or maybe not because they're PIGS!

You'd probably be a bit worried or perplexed about where it came from? You wouldn't just grab it with a broad grin and go down the pub singing "we're in the money" would you? well, not the pub, certainly . If it were a few quid, or some coins, I'd probably pocket it - although I haven't actually used cash in a shop since lockdown one. Anything more than that, I'd turn it over to the police. And I'm not virtue signalling - twice in the past I've found relatively large sums of money and I've turned it over and it's been reunited with whoever lost it. This was before I fully developed my current views on money, but it fed into them.
Basically, as LJO said, I value time over money (and indeed stuff). I was very cash poor at times in my early adulthood, both before I got a job and in the years immediately after I dropped out, but I got by, and, although it was miserable at times, I was far happier then than I was in the five years I spent in salaried work in hierarchical organizations. And it's actually true, the FFFB's saying: 'Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope'.
The only really worthwhile thing having a bit of money brings is not having to worry about money. Right now, the only income I have is the state pension, and the small remnants of the money I acquired because people who loved me died, but I'm totally debt-free, don't have a mortgage or a credit card. I've never been interested in being 'wealthy' in terms of cash and stuff. Quite a few of my contemporaries are millionaires now, at least on paper, mostly because of house price inflation, but I know from their experience that having money, and property, brings with it anxieties and responsibilities I can well do without, so I am genuinely unconcerned about money and, like I said, no desire for power over anyone other than myself.
Other viewpoints and lifestyles are available, of course .
