In my circles I often hear things like Bill Gates has so much money that the only thing he could want after that is power. But I never really got that? Is that even a thing? The only time I ever had any power over disparate human beings was when I was a manager of a pizza restaurant. Looking back I thought I was some kind of hot shot but I also made more money than when I was a line cook. Bought myself a 750 Honda! And the power to hire, fire and schedule was just part of the job. The creepiest part was when I quashed a budding union by firing the leader guy, a friend, actually, who was making my job more difficult with his demands, not to mention fucking with my bonus which came from keeping labor costs down. I was fired myself soon after that for being a shitty manager, sucking especially hard in keeping the ledgers. Odd, how well and fondly I remember my time at the top of a heap. Answering my own question, I guess the desire for power is a thing.

You should make that "honest poverty" it's more poetic.
I have a friend who asked me to labour for him while he tried to expand his business, I was "between carreers" so I said why the hell not so I worked for him on a casual basis. Within a couple of years he had doubled his money and his workforce. Longstory short he started getting tighter with his money as well as behaving like a school ground bully not so much with me but the other guys.
Ended up in Millport in January and I decided I couldn't work with him anymore he had become that hard to deal with. I'm not sure if the responsibility created a pressure that corrupted him but it was a lesson for me. The richer you are the more ruthless you become.

You want fries with that? One thing the owners (Terry and Doreen) told me to do was get the line workers to ask "You want a pesto (macaroni) salad with your slice?" Selling a pasta salad with pizza was just dumb. Might as well have asked if they'd also like a bag of donuts.

The "power" is all about context isn't it?
Power does mean influence, and who wouldn't want to bend society, even if just a tiny fraction, to their will? It's how we do effect change, ultimately.

Money, money, money!
I'm not fussed about power and frankly I am deeply suspicious of people who want it.

But thinking more about what I had written, I see now how that bit of power was a heady thing, a "high" if you will. And for managing a tiny pizza restaurant. What kind of rush might a Gates or a Bezos get?

What kind of rush might a Gates or a Bezos get? I guess it depends on the size of the pizza restaurant.

Where's the both are irrelevant to my life option? I already have supreme power over my life, don't want it over anyone else's, and money is just a social convenience, with no intrinsic value.

There is an expression I read about the other day that I really liked " minute millionaires" . That's me and you Ray.

I'd like sexual power. I mean, more sexual power. That's the best power of all really innit?
I've heard Skope in his speedos exerts extreme sexual power.

How about Rich Power - the American James Bond
Seriously, I'd like to have the power of positive thinking. I'd also like the ability to buy my way out of every difficult situation.
