last episode tonight.
I've enjoyed it a lot. I think it's superior to the first season and Phoebe whatsherface is so fucking sexy I swear to God.

The booze hound? wouldn't surprise me
It's a more interesting storyline than that priest business

I thought that was a very classy ending to a classy show.
She's a real talent.

Very much so. And apparently there'll be no more! although I'm sure they'll be pressuring her to write another series. I did have a tear in my eye at the end there, but honestly - how likely is it that those two would fall in love? seeing as it was just a sexual affair, really? I don't think the emotional side had been given time to develop. I wasn't really convinced by that gooey stuff. Has G watched five minutes of it yet? He's usually the one to come along and put something popular down. I think we need that.

It would never work in real life and I suspect the priest knew that. As for the gooey stuff, I dunno, people say gooey stuff all the time without necessarily meaning it, or at least they think that they mean it in the moment. The priest knew she would get over this and move on and she will. She’s vulnerable, that’s the thing, and vulnerable people are often prone to such moments in my experience. I can recognise a bit of Fleabag in people I’ve known so despite the shows moments of comedic fancy it still had a patina of romantic realness about it.
I mean she is looking for love after all but I felt the priest thing was, at least partly, rooted in her transgressiveness and that was part of the (sexual) appeal really. I thought the whole grief thing – both over her Mother and her best mate – was what ultimately lifted the show and gave it some depth. Her stealing the piece back because it was her Mother was a perfect moment I thought and brought it all home at the right time. There was something very sweet about her breaking the fourth wall and waving goodbye as she walks down the street too. Off for more (mis) adventures having learned something along the way.

G would probably hate it, turn it off after one episode and start watching some Pathe news documentary about bleedin Brighton in the 1950s

The very sweet scenes with Paterson reminded me a bit of those scenes in The Royal Family when Denise was in the bog with her old man. Lovely stuff.

He's great. Don't you think he's great?
Funny that I last saw him playing a VILLAIN! (in Auf Wiedersehen Pet)
