The thing about that building is - and I think Toby and Dougie will also testify - it's on a wide, Socialist-era boulevard that's seriously impressive in itself. The overall visual impact is unforgettable. Isn't it the longest boulevard in Europe or summat?

cinemas are great, especially the repertoires. nothing better that seeing a classic film on the big screen. i've posted this before, but the filmoteca in valencia is a wonderful art deco cinema. a magical place.

Actually I've heard that said about Ku'damm, in the west of Berlin. It might be. It's difficult to find photos that do the street justice. You really have to be there. Did you know some scenes from The Queen's Gambit were filmed around there, and also in the bar of the Kino? Here's our darling
