1. what was your local cinema when growing up? What memories do you have of it? Two come to mind. The first would be the school gym. It was used as a bit of a community center, if you will. Mass on Sunday mornings (nt just for the students, for the community). They would show kid-friendly double-headers once a week. Cost practically nothing of course.
The second would be a repertory cinema that I went to later on. That's where they had special showings of the Rocky Horro Picture Show regularly. Flying toast and confetti everywhere of course.4. where do you like to sit? Usually center, 15 rows back or so. If I was with a hot date, the in the corner, last row of course. 6. do you like to eat in the cinema? if so, what? Not really, no. Maybe a chocolate bar. Definitely a soft drink though. Large.7. what's your most memorable cinema experience? At the aforementioned repertory cinema, my then girlfriend and I went to see a movie with her visiting BFF and her date. We got there a bit late and had to sit in the very front row. We had not realized that they were going to show a soft porn flick. The girls were mortified and we had to leave forthwith. Prudes.Haven't been to a movie for years and years now. I have been considering going to see the new Dune but have not gotten close to going yet. I would be going alone in this case.

I've got some time on my hands so, for now, I'll be happy to respond to The Souphound Version!
1. what was your local cinema when growing up? What memories do you have of it? it was like the movie theater in "the Blob" it was the first theater I saw a movie in properly. My Aunt & Uncle took me to see Disney's "Cinderella" on the same great program as a super weird sixties obscurity called "the 7 faces of Dr. Lao." I saw many Bond movies here in years to come. my Mom would buy our tickets (rated M for Mature!) flirt with the manager then leave us there all day. This was my local movie house for YEARS. I think the last movie I saw there was "Smokey & the Bandit". the place got a little run down but it was a nice little place - probably seated about 400 people though I suppose it seldom did.
4. where do you like to sit? If I'm with others I let them choose. this choice is often made to aid a speedy exit when the movie is over. I respect that. If I'm by myself or if I'm asked, I pick the middle of the middle. I got in the habit when my Dad the projectionist would send me down to test the stereo. I still like stereo.
6. do you like to eat in the cinema? if so, what? Good Lord, YES! I'm lucky enough to be invited to Academy screenings once in a while. they don't sell or allow food. I can see why. it's nice to zero in on the movie without distraction. If they DO sell food then I'm buying.
I'll have a coffee and a box of chocolate almonds or raisins or peanuts (in that order of preference) if I'm by myself. I'll skip the coffee and have a humungo popcorn if I'm with others. I LOVE that theodore's have beer now but I can't risk needing to get up and go during the presentation. I've done this only a handful of times and it's an ordeal every time.
7. what's your most memorable cinema experience? well, that Disney and George Pal movie were mighty striking. singing mice, rubber monsters, pretty memorable. still, I've got to say that Francis Ford Coppola wins this one. Both "the Godfather" and "Apocalypse Now" made my mouth hang open. Godfather was simply the most violence I'd ever seen in a movie & Apocalypse was so psychedelic. on our way out of the theater my companion met a friend in line. the friend asked him what the movie was like. my friend responded "it's like the Disneyland Jungle Cruise ride through the vietnam war..... on ACID" LOL.

here's a vintage photo. it wasn't THIS nice but they kept it pretty nice.
