see how they're all fixated on him, waiting on his every move? I'd hate to play in that band! it's the opposite of creative for the players
anyway - nice bit of music, what?

That's what playing in a band is like when you're following one guy, though, and knowing Neil they'd likely never even played that song before (okay, maybe once just to get the chords). Like you say, it's a nice bit of music - would you have preferred it if each of them was more focused on their own thing? To me, personally, what those guys have going is the Platonic ideal of a band.

Sat through it (and half of another new one) last night. It's not terrible, it certainly sounds nice, but as a song I'm not really convinced.
Nice to see Lofgren playing with them again (and reining in his flash tendencies).

No, absolutely not.
Not that I'm keen on improvising, mind - but I wouldn't want to follow a leader slavishly like that. And yes, I know that's the way it needs to be in this case.

I'm with Colin on this - another point being that watching helps musicians to really respond to each other.

Fair enough.

I really really enjoyed that..... His guitar playing is amateurish and facile yet he transforms it into something beautiful...I want to know what note he is going to play next and I know when he does play that next chord no matter how poorly he means what he says and how great to be a musician who can speak just using a few notes.....it's like Tyson Fury uppercutting himself....yeah it seems almost like he's completely inept yet here he is the world champion again.....and Young is knocking this out the park here......it's all he knows it's all he has ever known all he will ever show us of himself.... Perhaps he is a man who knows himself.....maybe it's all a big con who knows but I am just chilling with a cold one listening to him expressing himself and thinking to myself how grateful I am that he is still here with us making music that he believes in....who else can I say that about? ? The harmonies were great too btw.... And the dog was the perfect guest star..... What more can we want? ??

So Poncho's not in the band anymore? I know he's sat out a few, but I guess the last time he was a full-fledged member was Psychedelic Pill (which is - gasp! almost ten years old!). I did not know that.
He's gotten very hit and miss as a songwriter, but fortunately he still writes the occasional good one. This one's not bad. Not gonna rush out to get it, but makes me happy that he's still at least somewhat inspired.
And in other news, at least from a distance, Billy Talbot is a Peter Lewis doppelganger! I did a serious double-take. I mean the expressions and everything!

Holy shit! I've played at the Rivoli many times. It is a SMALL club - I think the capacity is just over 200 people. That must've been something else!
