"Well we knew what we wanted to do, make a good movie, and a picture of Jerry Lee, and you can get all these experts talking about the greatness of Jerry Lee and the more experts you have, the less I believe it. Fucking show the guy!"
I'm in.

great interview. I really like how T-Bone suggested the full performances that bookend the film. VERY encouraging.
I saw Jerry Lee in Vegas in the 80's opening for Chuck Berry. he was SO good that Chuck was too. I love JLL's country music - as a singer it might be his best stuff. still, I have rarely been as excited as I was watching Jerry Lee Lewis kick away his piano stool & play the piano with his butt.

Just watched this on Amazon Prime. A little scattershot, but not bad. There is indeed more actual music than one usually finds in music documentaries - and a lot less dirt than there could have been.
Interviewer: "So why do you figure Elvis became ELVIS [and you didn't]?"
Jerry Lee: "Because he had a great manager - Tom Parker - who treated him as if he was a monkey in a cage."
Interviewer: "If you'd've had the Colonel, could you have been king?"
Jerry Lee: "I don't think the Colonel coulda lived through it."
