We should be pro ‘Average Nacho Lunch’ at this point in our history. Speaking of which, no-one's mentioned the "nacho average" pun yet. Wait, I kinda like that...

What's the actual filling supposed to be? Miscellaneous chunks?

Everything. I don't get the Greggs love I'm afraid. I know why it's popular and I sort of admire their "we are shit but at least we're honest about it" marketing, but the actual produce isn't great. This looks terrible. I think the reason for their popularity is similar to MacDonalds, it's a "you know what you're going to get" type thing. It's sad that outside of villages and small towns, a lot of the independent bakers have gone. I think Greggs is desperately poor for the most part and I'm no food snob. It just doesn't deliver on any level and the food is always lukewarm at best.

"Nacho" = "Not your" I did notice it, but I thought that was obviously the worst thing about it, and didn't comment.

and the food is always lukewarm at best. You're probably using a lower-wattage microwave. Try leaving it in for another minute and a half.

I'm talking about when you buy it ready to eat it in the shop. I did read somewhere that they weren't allowed to warm it up because of some health and safety thing, but that doesn't seem to stop every other take away food place from serving hot food!

Honestly, looking at the photo (which seems devoid of every last vestige of "let's stage this photographed food advertisement to look downright edible!"), it seemed entirely plausible that "Nacho Average Lunch" would be no more than the grimly honest name of the product...sans pun.

I was joking, or trying to.
I confess I know nothing of this Greggs of which y'all speak. I assumed that it was a packaged frozen food concern, like Hot Pockets or something.

I've never understood this idea of food needing to be 'piping hot', but that's for another thread..

Oh I can't stand piping hot food. You bite into the sausage roll, the roof of your mouth starts to melt and that's your week ruined. And you can't not bite into it regardless of how hot it is can you?
It's like when somebody serves you a meal and you spend ten minutes blowing on it. What's the point?

It's an old-fashioned idea, I think. 'get some hot food inside you' - like, the heat itself is good for you.
You ever had lunch in Greece? They lay out all these big trays of food - white beans in tomato sauce, roast chicken, green beans, thick fried potatoes - you point at what you want, it's spooned onto your plate and it's all served lukewarm.
I remember asking someone once why it wasn't hot and they looked at me as if I'd just landed from another planet.
