Hounds of love is the only tune I really like of hers but I haven't heard much of her outside of singles. That Babooshka tune can fuck off.

Emma Barnett just talked to her on Radio 4.
You can see why KB doesn't do many interviews...

I like this one more than anything apart from 'Wuthering Heights'.
Maybe it would get more attention if it made some statement about the planet and the trees or some shit

Hounds of Love is where she streamlines her music to just the right degree. It's one of those albums where an experimental, wildly creative Artist with a capital A keeps everything that's weird and unique about them but combines it with radio friendly edge that actually benefits the album. Side one is the kind of weird but accessible English pop music similar to what the likes of Bowie or Barrett managed to produce in earlier decades and I deliberately place Bush as part of that continuum. It's a rare trick. Not that she didn't pull it off before mind. I mean Wuthering Heights is one of the great bonkers pop hits of all time but she never quite produced a sustained run of pop brilliance on an album as she does here. And then she goes off the deep end on side two and even though I don't follow the concept it's gripping, brilliant, with some proper songs and also some schizo moments before ending very strongly with Hello Earth and The Morning Fog. It's one of those records where the critical consensus is right in this case. I do think it's her best, most fully realised album where everything is in the right place. Spot on. I really do like quite a few of her songs across all her albums but I’ve never loved a whole album track after track without skipping - apart from HoL… some of her music is just not tuneful enough, it’s too operatic for me, or I just can’t grasp where it’s going and her vocal is too much sometimes (brilliant maybe but all over the place). I do find a lot of her songs emotionally moving though… this one always gets me (sorry if it’s just a link - I’m on my phone and not sure how to embed on this board). youtu.be/QOZDKlpybZEOther songs of hers are less likeable for me musically but the ideas are cool, creative or thought provoking somehow, like this one where she is imagining what it would be like to dance with Hitler. youtu.be/I9NaEOoOLU4I was going to say that I do always LOVE looking at her and watching her though… drool. But that seems a bit 😬

All in all I guess that she’s a 3rds artist for me… swinging between love the tune, love the emotion/way it makes me feel, or love the creativity/idea but it rarely all comes together…
Hounds of Love is the exception.

Well, I love Hounds of Love so it’s great hearing nice things about it. My favorite is “ the Dreaming” I love a lot of music but “art rock”, for some reason, has claimed a special place in my heart. “Hounds” might certainly have more Art. “Dreaming” certainly has more rock.
