if it weren't for "Stranger Things" & "Family Guy" I would need to spend a LOT of time explaining my references to people.

Kate Bush is an artist where there's a very big gap between my admiration for her as an artist and actual enjoyment of her art.
Absolutely bloody inconsequential observation there but it's the best I can do on a Tuesday evening and anyway I do like to 'support' these music threads. Even if it's just a daft Markus one 🙂

Well....
yeah
but by God if she isn't completely unique, uncompromising, iconic, enigmatic, beautiful, stylish and of course massively talented and influential.

Aye but your set, you even have your innendo with the name "bush". Just need a new first name to match it.

"Running Up that Hill" was where she started to get less good, for me. The Dreaming and Never for Ever were great. The Hounds of Love album was still very creative though.

Hounds of Love is where she streamlines her music to just the right degree. It's one of those albums where an experimental, wildly creative Artist with a capital A keeps everything that's weird and unique about them but combines it with radio friendly edge that actually benefits the album.
Side one is the kind of weird but accessible English pop music similar to what the likes of Bowie or Barrett managed to produce in earlier decades and I deliberately place Bush as part of that continuum. It's a rare trick. Not that she didn't pull it off before mind. I mean Wuthering Heights is one of the great bonkers pop hits of all time but she never quite produced a sustained run of pop brilliance on an album as she does here. And then she goes off the deep end on side two and even though I don't follow the concept it's gripping, brilliant, with some proper songs and also some schizo moments before ending very strongly with Hello Earth and The Morning Fog.
It's one of those records where the critical consensus is right in this case. I do think it's her best, most fully realised album where everything is in the right place.
